Keeps vegetables fresh longer than plastic. Vegetables stay crisp for up to 2 weeks.Just like cut flowers, vegetables need water to stay vibrant. The key to keeping veggies crisp is moisture. When damp, the cloth Vejibag keeps moisture-loving vegetables moist and crisp in a breathable but high humidity environment. Moisture slowly evaporates from the surface of the bag to circulate air and keep the vegetables “breathing.” The slightly moist environment of the bag keeps vegetables crisp far longer than vegetables stored in a plastic bag.
Vejibags have always been made with the finest US grown and milled organic cotton french terry knit. They are sewn at a worker-owned facility in Valdese, NC, and as always they are free from dyes or chemicals.
To use :1)To begin, wet the bag and then wring it out so that it is just damp.
2)Rinse your vegetables carefully, remove any damaged areas, and then gently shake off any excess water. If you're washing lettuces or greens, there's no need to spin. Let your Vejibag do the work!
3)Store in the main compartment of your refrigerator or in a slightly opened crisper drawer. When the bag dries out after several days, re-wet slightly by running it briefly under the faucet, vegetables and all.
Turn Vejibags inside out and launder with fragrance free detergent. Hang in the sun to dry or machine dry, expect 10% shrinkage the first time as this is a 100% cotton bag!
If your bag gets stained you can safely remove most stains with an oxygen bleach or make your own environmentally friendly stain remover solution with 1 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide and 2 Tablespoons of Arm and Hammer Washing Soda. Add enough hot water to the hydrogen peroxide/washing soda solution to cover bag and let sit 24 hours.
